4-H SPIRIT OF AMERICA EXPERIENCE
Spirit of America East (Grades 8-10)
Travel to the East Coast (Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, Canada) via bus; itinerary may vary. Visit various attractions, take part in activities: Valley Forge, Niagara Falls, whale watching cruise, and much more.
Date: June 7-15, 2017
Approximate cost is $1,200. Federation pays 75%. Cost to participant is approximately $300.00. Participants will need to get a passport by March 31, 2017.
To take part in this program, you must submit a Taylor County 4-H Trip Application by the last Monday in August and have your application approved.
Approved adult 4-H Leaders who are interested in being an Adult Chaperone for this trip can view an American Spirit East DRAFT Itinerary, and should let the UW-Extension Office know by September 30, 2017 if they are interested.
Spirit of America West (Grades 9-12)
Spirit of America West will l not happen in 2017, please contact the UW-Extension office for updated information on this trip for 2018.
Leadership Washington Focus (Grades 6-8)
Leadership Washington Focus (LWF) is a 4-H leadership program for youth currently in grades 6-8 (2015-16 school year). The program will take place at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center, just 1 mile from the Washington, D.C. border.
2016 dates have not been finalized but will be in June or July.
Cost is approximately $1,100, including registration, lodging, meals, and transportation. Taylor County Federation pays 75% so the participant pays about $275.

CITIZENSHIP WASHINGTON FOCUS (Grades 10-12)
Each year youth in grades 10-12 (as of Sept. 1) travel by bus to Washington, D.C., for a week-long program at the National 4-H Center. Participants learn the importance of civic and social responsibilities as they relate to the development of better citizens and leaders. The week consists of participatory workshops, speakers, committee work, off-site experiences including a day on Capitol Hill and social events.
Dates vary: In 2016, choose from June 26-July 2, July 10-16, July 17-23. Allow extra days for travel to and from.
Approximate cost is $1,100 (participant pays approximately 25% of the cost plus spending money).
To attend this program, you must submit a Taylor County 4-H Trip Application and have your application approved.
If you register for this trip, but back out, you are responsible for the total cost unless someone else can be found to replace you. Mandatory orientation will be scheduled. NATIONAL 4-H CONFERENCE (Grades 10-12)
National 4-H Conference annually brings 4-H youth and adults from around the nation to work towards strengthening and expanding the 4-H Youth Development program at the local, state, and national levels. In 2015, there were approximately 350 delegates. Between 6-8 Wisconsin youth are selected to attend this working conference. Each participant selects an issue (education, promotion, environment, violence, etc.) and works with other delegates to develop plans directing future 4 H programming.
Date: April 8-14, 2016
Location: Held at the National 4-H Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland, it’s usually scheduled around the beginning of April.

NATIONAL 4-H CONGRESS (Grades 10-12 as of October 1; maximum age of 18 as of January 1, 2016)
Delegates participate in self-development seminars, tours, and a service project, while exchanging ideas with youth from across the country.
Date: November 25-29, 2016
Location: Atlanta, Georgia

SPACE CAMP (Grades 6-8)
Attend Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama for a long weekend. Go on a simulated space mission and learn about the space program while exchanging ideas with youth from across Wisconsin.
Date: April 21-25, 2016
Cost: Approximate cost is $550 (participant pays approximately $137.50).
Mandatory orientation will be scheduled.
Registration is through 4-H Online from September 15 through December 31. No regular Taylor County 4-H Trip Application is required, but by December 15, you must submit a pre-reimbursement form and a brief letter explaining why you want to go and how you will share your experience with others in 4-H. NOTE: There may be other possibilities for trips. If you have an interest in a particular area that is not being offered in the above list of trips, please contact your trip leader or the 4-H office. Non-listed trips must be approved by the Federation Board, so please allow plenty of time.
